Post conference update and some good news!
This has been an incredibly busy summer, all in the best ways. Sending kids off to college, vacations, conventions, romance awards, and BIG anniversaries! My husband and I celebrated our 25th, I can’t believe it. Guess it’s true that time flies when you’re having fun! 🙂
The RWA Conference in July, was such a blast. It’s for Romance writers only, so even the biggest names in romance can let their hair down and have fun. Here are some of my favorite highlights of the trip:
I thought those stupid stress relievers were going to be MUCH smaller. I sent them straight to the hotel so I wouldn’t have to haul them cross-country, and when I picked them up, the box was the size of a Smart car. I wasn’t fully sure it would fit on the elevator! I’m sure someone took video of me and posted it to YouTube, struggling with this beast of a box through a very crowded hotel up to the fourteenth floor! I don’t even want to look. 🙁
I hope you enjoyed a few shots from the trip. These events really recharge the creative spirit being around such giving authors. Read, read, and read some more! These are some pretty cool peeps, keep them employed!
I’ve had some great news this summer, as well. Mine, Not Hers is a current finalist in the Las Vegas Romance Writer’s, I Heart Indie contest. Winners to be announced in October.
A Love We Deserve was honored as a finalist in the Virginia Romance Writer’s Holt Medallion award in June, and is a current finalist in the First Coast Romance Writer’s 2016 National Excellence in Romance Fiction Award.
I am so proud of these honors. It’s a nice little cherry on top when your hard work is recognized. Although, I’m happiest when readers enjoy my work! That’s why I write, not for awards, but for the sheer pleasure of creating stories I can share. I hope you enjoy my books, and share them with your friends. 🙂
I’m furiously working on a new manuscript I’m really excited about. Time to start a new chapter, literally! (How many times in your life can you use that terminology properly! HA!)
Enjoy the rest of summer, that last lazy read in a hammock outside before we get into cuddle by the fire with a good book weather! See a theme?
