Off to RWA 2016!

Hi Friends!

I’m trying to psych myself up to pack for RWA 2016 in San Diego. Trying to figure out what to wear, how much swag to bring, and how many empty suitcases I need to drag along to bring home all the goodies, is a never ending battle. When I was at BookExpo in Chicago in May, I had to buy an extra suitcase for all the free books and it still weighed over seventy pounds. Why didn’t I start writing when I was much younger? The pains in my body after these trips remind me, all too aggressively, that I’m a middle-aged writer, who spends a great deal of time on my well-seasoned rump.

Any-hoo, I’m really looking forward to this event. This is the annual conference of the Romance Writers of America, and it’s time for just us. We get to have a little fun, work on our craft, and mingle with some of the greatest romance writers of our generation. Saturday night, July 16, is the big award ceremony, featuring the Rita (published work) and Golden Heart (unpublished work), along with other industry awards, including the Nora Roberts Lifetime Achievement Award, which will be awarded to Robyn Carr (http://www.robyncarr.com) this year. I will publish all the winners here, but look for announcements in most major newspapers, as well. If you’d like to follow the conference, check out RWA’s Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/romancewriters/ or on Twitter at: https://twitter.com/search?q=%23rwa2016&src=tyah with the hashtag, #RWA2016. It’s a pretty big deal.

I’ll be coming home with a great deal of SWAG, once again. Of course, just how much will depend greatly on my pain tolerance. I do have to haul it 2383 miles. Ugh. I’ll be offering most of it up to my subscribers, so be on the lookout for more updates!

I’ll post pictures and news, as time allows, during the week. I hope you enjoy these little windows into the industry as much as I enjoy sharing them. While I might be a writer, I’m always a reader and fan first.

Wish me luck! 🙂

xoxo – BA

I have a suggestion ship everything home. It’s cheaper and a lot easier than fighting with your luggage. Check out rates with UPS and post office. Have a safe and fun trip!!!!
